Longstanding Good Morning Country breakfast presenter Bill Beerens has announced his retirement from the airwaves, effective from December 2016. Bill has been a mainstay of the CBAA’s country music breakfast show since its inception in 2000, and involved in community radio since 1988, spending time at Hawkesbury Radio, 2MCR, AIR-FM, and WOW FM at St Marys. Extending his involvement in the promotion of country music, Bill joined the Blacktown Country Music Club and eventually became its president, a position he served in for many years.
In both 2008 and 2009 Bill was nominated for Favourite DJ at the Tamworth People’s Choice Awards, and in January 2013 he was inducted into the Australian Country Music Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Bill's breakfast show has had a strong sense of traditional Australian country, with strong connections to the bush balladeer scene.
For 17 years he has made a huge effort for national country radio, and all of it has been voluntary. The CBAA wishes Bill all the best in his radio retirement.
