30 Years of Pride - A Tribute to James Blundell

James Blundell is simply one of the most instantly likable, authentic and recognisable artists in Australian music.
With a fresh approach to writing new material and overseas collaborations  - all from his Stanthorpe farm in QLD - the singer is now celebrating a career that spans 30 years culminating in last year's launch of his 14th album 'Campfire'.
Here, James tells GMC's Kevin Walsh that the milestone has heralded a new era and he's never been happier.
"I'm RE-volving I s'pose, not e-volving or de-volving," he jokes.
"It was very different, you know... I'd literally just come out of sitting on a horse and working with livestock 24/7. It's been a remarkable evolution to have to step away from that primary life but then be allowed to use the experiences gained from that to create music that became a career. "

Matt was raised in the quiet picturesque farming town of Milton/Ulladulla on the NSW South Coast, started in his first band, Phantasy, when he was 16 and slayed every birthday party, surf club and Friday night pub in the area.
Matt hit the road and headed to Australia’s Country Music capital Tamworth. He found his feet pretty quickly and his songwriting reached new heights with his first CD “Put It Down To Experience” including the infectious “Giddy Up” which was picked up for the Paul Hogan movie “Charlie & Boots” where Matt also had a cameo appearance.
After endless tours and umpteenth radio interviews Matt felt it was time to pack up his guitar and laptop and head back to Nashville where he spent the last 4 years slowly but surely carving out a name for himself in “Music City”. He is now back in Australia for the next chapter.

From a young age, Kristy Cox captured plenty of attention with her distinct singing style and positive nature, resulting in opportunities to open shows for major acts and making regular festival and television appearances across Australia, Europe, and the US. In 2015 she was selected as an official showcase artist for the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) where she began drawing the attention of music industry professionals. With a string of #1 hits on radio and country music television in Australia, Kristy has also made headway on the US bluegrass charts in recent years. Her last two projects, produced by Grammy® winner Jerry Salley, were very well received, with the latest making strong appearances throughout 2016 on multiple album and songs charts. 2017 kicked into high gear when she won “Bluegrass Recording of the Year” from the Country Music Association of Australia, and she also made the IBMA Awards second ballot in several categories.

Born and raised in Sydney, Ben Ransom started playing guitar and writing songs at fifteen. In 1999, Ben left Australia to spend time in Europe, essentially to hone his skills and develop his musical style. Ben toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe before returning to Australia where his passion in music held root.
In 2012 he was a finalist in the coveted Toyota Star Maker competition. He was also named 2016 Southern Stars Rising Male Artist.
January 12, 2018 sees the release of the album – “101” - along with the simultaneously released single, “Same Song, Different Day”.
One thing is for certain, Ben Ransom, is the real deal and is destined for very big things.

Meryl Reinhard comes from Bulahdelah, on the banks of the Myall River in the mid-North Coast of New South Wales.  She was borne in Murwillumbah on the Tweed River.

Meryl has been writing poetry for many years and, following her musical father, who performed in a dance band, finally put some of her poetry to music and sang those songs around many country music festivals around Australia.  The audience kept asking for a CD, so Meryl went to Ken Foot at Footloose Studios on Nelson Bay.  Ken helped with advice and produced a CD that has had to go into its second and third pressing!
