Rex Dallas inherited a love of bush poetry through a close friendship with his grandfather, who regularly read poems to him. He first appeared on local radio, on 2LT Lithgow, at the age of 15 but a year later, he relocated to Sydney. His appearance on Australia’s Amateur Hour led to him becoming a regular on 2SM’s On The Trail And Hall Shows for the next three years. He later toured with Lee Gordon and made his first recordings for EMI Records in the early 60s, his first single being ‘Bicycle Wreck’.

From the early 1970s, Dallas toured extensively, accompanied by his band, the Dallas Cowboys. In 1981, Dallas featured in a television documentary about his touring show. When not touring with his country show, he regularly entertained at his own venue, Gully Park, in Moonbi, northern NSW.

Rex's new album Country Legend is available on Kross Kut Records.

"Born into a country music family Anita Ree grew up on a cane and cattle farm in South- East Queensland. Growing up in the bush - but close to town - gave Anita a unique perspective on Australian life forming an excellent background for writing songs of her land and its people and places. After several award wins on the talent quest circuit, Anita started her professional music career in 2003 after winning the Australian Bush Balladeer Starquest. Since then she has gone from strength to strength cementing her place as an Australian favourite."

Singer, Songwriter and Talent Quest Judge, Sharon Heaslip has been written often as one of Australia's leading female vocalists of Australian Bush Ballads and country songs. She's appeared at the likes of Bouldercombe, Brisbane, Nanango, Widgee Bush Ballad Festival, Pittsworth, Bungendore NSW, Hartwood NSW, Widgee Country Music Festival, Maryborough, Kempsey Slim Dusty Memories Week and the Yellowbelly Country Music Festival.

"In past years Sharon has concentrated on raising her family in the Pioneer Valley, west of Mackay QLd. Now with her daughters grown and moved away, Sharon has opened the floodgates of her music creativity. It seemed like all the bits and pieces of life accumulated have been mixed into one bucket just for this album and this moment. With the unending love and support of her husband Ian, Sharon is having a good Australian go. Exciting times ahead."

This week Walshy catches up with WA artist Billy Higginson to chat about Billy's second album, the new release The Fools Errand. As Billy says "I've been busy putting this album together over the course of the year. The album is produced by Dan Drilling of Panda Productions in Nashville. It contains a variety of themes and tempos; some a little serious but most with a bit of lighthearted fun. Always catchy and radio friendly as you'd expect from me. 11 songs written by my own pen and two by my good mate and great writer, Terry Benetts."
